A Little

About Me

My name is Guthrie Boyd, and I am in my final semester of undergraduate studies in Emergency Management. I am originally from Arkansas, but I am currently residing in Southern Maryland. I serve in the United States Navy as an aviation support equipment technician. I am happily married to my wife, Susan, and we have two dogs named Bo Dale and Beulah. In my free time, I enjoy watching professional baseball, spending time outdoors, and exploring new places.

ELEVATOR SPEECH

My name is Guthrie Boyd, and I am a highly experienced emergency services professional with over a decade of experience, most of which has been spent as a paramedic. I am constantly pushing myself to be the best I can be, and pursuing an undergraduate degree in Emergency Management is just one example of that drive. I am truly passionate about crisis communication, which I believe is a vital skill in my line of work. As a confident and assertive communicator, I know that being an active listener is key to effective communication with others.

TOP 5 STRENGTHS

Belief: I have a strong faith in God, and I believe in the people that he created.

Relator: I strive to be a good listener and always to enhance my communication skills.

Responsibility: I work hard and I take my work assignments seriously.

Learner: I try to keep an open mind and to develop skills of discernment to sort between what is true and what is not true.

Restorative: I try always to renew and revitalize my health, my ideals, and strength by taking care of myself and others.

GOALS

I am currently focused on completing my undergraduate degree by Spring 2024. After graduation, I plan on continuing my service in the United States Navy and applying for commissioning programs. It is essential that I enter a program that aligns with my field of study and provides opportunities for growth and learning. I'm particularly interested in the intelligence and cyber warfare community.

“I can imagine a no more rewarding career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction: ‘I served in the United States Navy.’”
